🧀 My Favorite Masters Week Tradition: The Pimento Cheese Sandwich
Every year when Masters Week rolls around, I get way too excited—not just for the golf, but for one of my favorite traditions: making a classic pimento cheese sandwich. If you’ve ever been to Augusta (or even just dreamed of it like me), you know this sandwich is legendary. It’s simple, nostalgic, and somehow just hits different when you’re watching the first major of the PGA Tour season.
So today, I’m sharing my go-to recipe. It’s easy, creamy, a little tangy, and 100% Southern comfort.
🥪 What You’ll Need:
1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded Monterey Jack (I like the creaminess this adds, but you can skip it if you want to stay super traditional)
½ cup mayonnaise (I always use Duke’s—it’s just better)
4 oz jar diced pimentos, drained
ÂĽ tsp onion powder
ÂĽ tsp garlic powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Soft white sandwich bread (think grocery store classic—no sourdough or fancy loaves here)
👩‍🍳 How I Make It:
Mix it up – I toss everything into a bowl—cheeses, mayo, pimentos, seasonings—and mix until it’s all smooth and blended. If it’s too thick, I’ll add a little more mayo.
Let it chill – I usually pop it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. It gives the flavors a chance to hang out and get cozy. If I have the patience, I’ll leave it overnight. Totally worth it.
Sandwich time – I spread a thick layer of the mix between two slices of soft white bread. That’s it. No toasting, no extras. Just the classic, the way Augusta intended.
Set the scene – I’ll pour a glass of sweet tea, throw on the Masters broadcast, and honestly… I’m in heaven.
🏌️‍♀️ A Little Extra:
If you really want to channel Augusta National, wrap the sandwich in green wax paper. It’s a small touch, but it makes it feel so official.
This sandwich is pure comfort and tradition wrapped into one perfect bite. Whether you’re in it for the golf, the vibes, or just a solid Southern snack, trust me—this is the move during Masters Week.
Let me know if you try it. Or if you’ve got your own spin on it, I’d love to hear!
