Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (about 15-20) fresh strawberries (washed and dried completely)
  • 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate (chopped or in chips)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for a smoother finish)
  • 4 oz white chocolate (optional, for drizzling)
  • Toppings (optional): Chopped nuts, sprinkles, crushed cookies, shredded coconut

  1. Prepare the Strawberries:

    • Wash the strawberries and pat them completely dry. Any moisture can prevent the chocolate from adhering properly.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:

    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
    • If using coconut oil or shortening, mix it in to create a smoother consistency.
  3. Dip the Strawberries:

    • Hold a strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Let any excess chocolate drip off.
    • If adding toppings, roll the strawberry in them before the chocolate sets.
  4. Set the Chocolate:

    • Place dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Let them sit at room temperature until the chocolate sets, or refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Add White Chocolate Drizzle (Optional):

    • Melt the white chocolate in the same manner as the dark chocolate.
    • Use a fork or piping bag to drizzle it over the dipped strawberries for decoration.
  6. Serve & Store:

    • Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
